Persistent Fire Alarm Disturbances & Management Negligence at Tamarind Suites

Hi, I am a resident of Tamarind Suites, F1 Block, Cyberjaya. For over six months, fire alarms have been going off repeatedly—every week or at least bi-weekly once—mostly during the night, severely disturbing residents and affecting our well-being. I am writing not just out of frustration, but out of deep anger and sadness. It's infuriating that such a basic expectation—peace in one’s own home—is consistently denied. What’s worse is that those responsible show no real care for how residents feel, nor respect the high cost we pay for these small units, simply for peace that we never get. I have completely lost confidence in the building management. They continue to provide conflicting explanations, repeat the same failed measures, and make no meaningful effort to resolve the issue. Their minimal, integrity-lacking approach is the very reason this nuisance has persisted for months. Can someone tell me which department I can contact to intervene and take firm action to hold the management accountable?
Residents deserve peace, safety, and condo management that takes responsibility seriously.

what you’re going through is absolutely unacceptable, and you're right to seek escalation. In Malaysia, particularly for stratified properties like Tamarind Suites, the relevant laws and authorities you can contact include:

Commissioner of Buildings (COB)

The COB is the first and most appropriate authority to handle mismanagement of strata properties under the Strata Management Act 2013 (Act 757). You can file a formal complaint to them regarding:
  • Repeated disturbances from fire alarms
  • Poor or negligent building management
  • Management’s failure to uphold residents’ right to quiet enjoyment
Steps:
  • Contact COB Sepang, since Tamarind Suites is in Cyberjaya.
  • File a written complaint with details (dates, impact, lack of solutions).
  • Include evidence if possible (e.g., alarm recordings, written excuses from management, resident group complaints).
